This is my third December in the South of France, and the first time I've seen it snow where I live. It isn't much, merely a light dusting on the ground, just enough for my friend's two kids to get their mittens sopping wet while making a snowball each, but it is enough to merit my friend and I free glasses of champagne after lunch at the restaurant run by a dark Frenchman who tells us that where he used to live in Norway, they always toasted the year's first snow with some bubbly. Well this is probably the decade's first snow in the region, I pipe up, we should be breaking open a crate of Dom Pérignon!
When all I can talk about in my blog is about it snowing and about finishing a four-hour long lunch with a toast, it means that I have really nothing very interesting to say.
I am right now, for several months now, living a rare period of peace and quiet. There is nothing happening; just watching flakes of white melt and disappear into dark patches on the sandy earth.

is a white Christmas unusual in France? Where I live, the hubby tells me that he was awakened by the howling of the winter winds at dawn. Snowstorm season is upon us again...sigh...
I love it when nothing is happening, and you can't complain.
CHINA, in other parts of France it can snow like crazy, but I live in the South, and today the weather is like in the beginning of spring. Lucky me!
Yep, IANNE! Loving it.
May secret fear ako na I won't be as interesting when we finally do get to catch up in person, in Jan.
Okey, hindi na siya secret fear. Hahahahahahaha.
Merry Christmas to you and your loved ones!
I've always avoided winter and am quick to scoot out of the US the moment the temp dips to less than 10 degrees. But this time I've decided to go to Toronto and, finally, experience my first winter. I wish winter in Toronto is as benign as the one you have in southern France. But everytime I mention Toronto in winter, everyone screams.
ABI, you are crazy :) I have always found you interesting, even when we just exchanged "Hi"s and "Hello"s in Summit, I had always thought you emitted a certain compelling sumthing sumthing.
Salamat, SENOR ENRIQUE! To you and yours too!
My sister is there, too, SOCKY. Escaping to the Philippines end of the month though. I do not think I will enjoy a winter over there, and I do hope you're not frozen yet!
